CSG Mission

The Council of State Governments is our nation’s only organization serving all three branches of state government. CSG is a region-based forum that fosters the exchange of insights and ideas to help state officials shape public policy. This offers unparalleled regional, national and international opportunities to network, develop leaders, collaborate and create problem-solving partnerships.

Policy Resolutions

CSG's Intergovernmental Affairs (IGA) Committee accepts and reviews policy positions for the organization on a biannual basis.  These policy resolutions, passed by the IGA Committee and ultimately the Executive Committee, remain official organization positions for three years following passage.  The resolutions allow CSG's DC office to advocate on behalf of CSG members on Capitol Hill, in federal agencies, and at the White House.
